Marketers are coming up with some creative ways to grab the attention of smartphone and other mobile device users. Last week, apparel-maker, Dockers San Francisco, released the first interactive, “shakable” ad for the iPhone/iPod touch. The ads are running on SGN’s iBasketball and iBowl and i.TV’s i.TV apps.
Today, AvatarLabs, a Hollywood online marketing agency, and Charmin introduced product promo apps for the iPhone/iPod touch and the Blackberry.

Avatar launched two apps for iPhone and iPod touch app designed to promote the upcoming theatrical release of Monsters vs. Aliens from DreamWorks Animation SKG.
There are two versions of the app–free and paid. The “Monsters vs. Aliens” Lite version is a free download that features videos, film stills for download and to find show times at theaters near you. There’s also a special interactive sneak peek at B.O.B., one of the film’s monsters.
The paid ($1.99) version features games, B.O.B. blurbs and other activities based on the movie.
Meanwhile, T-paper maker, Charmin, intro-ed its “SitOrSquat” iPhone/iPod touch and Blackberry apps, with the idea of helping people find the cleanest public restrooms around the world.
SitOrSquat enable those who need to pee or pinch a loaf find bathrooms, changing tables, handicap access and other amenities. App users provide the feedback when they’ve used one of 52,000 featured toilets in 10 countries.
I’ll keep an eye on these apps (as well Dockers San Francisco) and let you know how well they do.
