You probably know an increasing amount of your Web traffic is coming from smartphones and other mobile devices users but sometimes it’s hard to get a handle on your mobile Web metrics. Google recently introduced an add-on to Google Analytics (under the  Advanced Segments menu) that enables you to see how much of your traffic comes from iPhone users.

Now, along comes AdMob, which serves up billions of ads every month on mobile devices, with a free, new tool called AdMob Mobile Analytics that enables you to understand better what’s happening on the back end for any brand of smartphone. The tool provides details such as visitor location, the devices visitors use, page views, bounce rate and similar metrics. This video will fill you in:

Although sales of smartphones have slowed in the past 6 months, they continue to gain market share worldwide rising from 26 percent to 33 percent of requests in February 2009, AdMob says in it’s February report.

Worldwide the top five smartphones are the iPhone, Nokia N70, BlackBerry 8300, Nokia N80, and Nokia N73. The top five US smartphones are the iPhone, BlackBerry Curve, BlackBerry Pearl, Palm Centro, and HTC Dream (G1). The iPhone generated 33 percent of smartphone traffic worldwide and 50 percent in the US.
