Big Idea: Shoppers search online but still buy offline

by Michael Alexander on June 11, 2008

According to a recent study released by Pew Internet & American Life Project, the Internet plays an important role in how people conduct research for purchases, but it’s just one among a variety of sources people use and usually not the key factor in final purchasing decisions.

I thought that was pretty interesting because I just assumed that once you start researching a product or service online that you eventually buy it online. I know I do. I buy almost everything online–it’s the first and almost always, the only place I shop. That’s not the norm, PI & ALP says. More often than not,
purchases are consummated offline.
