Here are some of the things I do:

  1. Write and edit content for Web sites that feeds readers and robots alike.
  2. Create, blend, massage, disseminate, package content
  3. Optimize your site for search engines

You can choose some or all those things. It doesn’t matter to me. The only thing is you gotta pick at least one. Please.

1. Webify your site

One of the main things I do for my clients is “Webify” their copy. That means writing and editing copy that plays into how readers read on the Web (think bite-sized chunks of info, lean and athletic prose, using links judiciously and all the other good stuff you would expect guys like me to know).

2. Create, package, massage, disseminate content

You need to look at your content from two angles. The first is from the point of view of the people who come to your site. You want them to catch the drift of your message and respond positively. The second is from the point of view of the search engine spiders that crawl your site. You want them to recognize that people find your message is meaningful and to move your site to the top of the search heap. Your content must be shaped for homo sapiens and arachnids alike. That’s another one of my strong suits.

I’ll create content from scratch, blend it with your existing content, submit it to article directories as part of a link-building campaign–oh, anything you need. Like I said, the same content, when packaged correctly, can be used any number of ways, from helping drive sales, to boosting your credibility, to getting your site ranked highly by search engines.

If you’re up for it, I will also work with you on Webinars, e-newsletters, blogs, social networking and maybe a few other things. What I mean by “up for it,” is, Webinars, social community building,  e-newsletters and blogs are activities you need to sustain over time for them to be productive. Those are the sort of initiatives that require some dough and the active participation of people within the company. Not every company is able to support that kind of commitment. However, those that do, find it makes all the difference for branding, customer retention and winning new customers.

3. Optimize your site for search engines

Everything I’ve been telling up to now is cool beans and all, but the one thing you really want is to build a site that anyone can find easily, preferably ahead of the sites belonging to your competitors. That’s where search engine optimization comes in.

Do you know what search engines look for when they send out spiders to trawl Web sites? Do you know how to make your site more visible on the Web? Do you know the top 10 search engines where you can submit your URL without having to fork over dough?

Search engines rank highest sites that have tons of inbound content-rich links. Building links is one of the toughest parts of getting your site to register on the search engine Richter Scale. Got any idea how that’s best accomplished?
